Junior Camp-Day 3

Posted Jun 14,2009

Our last day of the 2009 golf camp found the young players playing the game.  They learned about grip, stance, approaching the ball, follow-through, chipping, putting, driving, etiquitte, respect and safety.  It was time to take it to the course.

The youngest players had a short course set up on the driving range and the older players headed out to play holes 10, 16, 17 and 18.  I was able to check out the young players as they teed off and caught up with the big guys on the tee at 17.  Everyone had big smiles and encouraging words for their fellow players.  As I waited for a group to get to the 17th tee, I heard a player say, "you have honors".  That made my heart feel great to hear these young players, in less than 3 days understand the respect and honorable tradition of the game of golf.  Our thanks to Doug and Sean for their joy-filled, enthusiastic teaching.  We look forward to doing it again next year, hopefully at the same time, so mark your calendars for the second Wednesday-Friday of June, 2010 for the next session.

I've got more pictures for our album.  Scroll to the end to see the pictures of Day 3.
