Good Kids
Posted Jul 07,2009
We're so fortunate to have the best kids in the area working for us; kids with high expectations for themselves, big dreams and good work ethics. Every one is a winner and today I'd like to share one of their successes with you.
MacKenzie Sims has high ideals and big plans. He's a planner and a deep thinker. When he was 14 years old he came to us and ask to become a dishwasher. He was right up front with us that he wasn't really interested in working in the kitchen and had no aspirations to become a chef. He planned that after working in the kitchen for a couple of years, we'd consider hiring him to work bag drop. We did. We hear comments nearly every day, "who's that polite kid outside?" or "That guy is going to kill me with kindness!" That's MacKenzie.
Knowing that, you won't be surprised that MacKenzie has been awarded a Pilot's Training scholarship by the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport Authority, and it probably won't surprise you to know that getting a pilot's license isn't the end of the plan. According to the article in the July 1st Alcona Review, he plans to join the ROTC, and has hopes of to lead our troops as a military officer some day.
Not only is this young man a man with a plan, he has a heart for our country and we're very proud to have him with us, hopefully for a few more years.
